Wow. Where do I begin.
The movie...is a bit of a mixed bag. Entertaining, but not what I thought it be. The two big negatives first though...and these are spoilers...big ones...
Luc vs Andrew was just too short. It is a brutal fight. But it's such a tease. I was like 'That was it?' I'll watch this fight many times on dvd or blu-ray cause it is a good fight...brutal...but too short. The other negative is another short, but longer fight. Of course, Luc vs the main NGU guy (Yes, Andrei). This was also good to see, but felt it was just short as well, but not as short as Luc vs Andrew.
Yes, this movie is worth buying or at least renting the dvd or blu-ray. But it also has it faults. I don't really care all that much for Luc here. In fact, a lot of the characters I don't really care all that much for. The movie also felt like it dragged, but once it hits the 60 min mark or a bit after, you feel like you want the movie to be longer.
The fights are all well done. You can easily see what is going on. Not a awesome visual style like the fights say in Mortal Kombat (which had better filmed fights...although bit more over the top ones) but these are some of the best fights I've seen in any theater release or DTV in a while.
The music and DOP is there. Feels like a theater release or very least very high quality DTV.
I really can't think of anything else right now other than John and Peter Hyams(sp?) were the right people for Director and DOP for this film.
And the ending...oh boy.

. Really? That lead Southern Marine? I will say that dude put up a good fight against Andrei. Esp for a human vs a NGU.
All in All...I can't decide between a C+, B- or B for this film. I give it a B just for the fact it entertained me and I wanna see it again (legally on dvd/blu-ray) but two short fights hurt it for me. And Dolph really is a cameo here. What was he gonna say?

maybe the commentary track will explain this?
And yes, Van Damme role is spread throughout the movie. He becomes the main character at like the 60 min mark I believe.
